Dr. Nieves and Dr. Paranthaman moved to the Panhandle a couple of years ago and have enjoyed calling this area their home and look forward to serving the Panama City community for years to come.

Whether you’re hit playing sports or you suddenly develop a severe toothache, our doctors are available to see you on a walk-in basis for an emergency appointment. meet the Doctor:

Dr. ALEJANDRO NIEVES, DMD

Dr. Nieves grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He completed his undergraduate degree from Florida Gulf Coast University, his master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University, and his Doctorate from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. While at Tufts, he met his wife, Dr. Bhavya Paranthaman, who co-owns Marina Pointe Dental with him. 


Dr. Nieves was drawn to Panama City due to its rich culture and warm weather, not to mention he has had family living in this area for decades. He speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys meeting and treating patients from all walks of life. During his off time, you’ll find Dr. Nieves spending time with his wife and daughter, kart racing, golfing, or rooting for his favorite team—the Miami Dolphins.

Dr. Bhavya Paranthaman, DDS

Dr. Paranthaman was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. She completed her undergraduate degree from Emory University, her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Rutgers University, and her Doctorate from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She has enjoyed living in the Panhandle with her husband and daughter the past few years, including their weekly Sunday ritual of visiting the beach, and looks forward to calling Panama City her new home for the coming years. Dr. Paranthaman enjoys lifting weights, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her family.

Dr. Nieves and Dr. Paranthaman are proud members of the Northwest District Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Florida Dental Association. Both of our doctors are trained in placing dental implants.

OUR OFFICE

Dr. Nieves and Dr. Paranthaman bought the practice of Dr. Cindy C. Moore, DMD, who practiced in Panama City for over 40 years. Dr. Moore has since retired. The practice has been renamed to Marina Pointe Dental in keeping with its sunny, seaside location. We appreciate our long-standing loyal patients and look forward to carrying on the legacy to the next generation of patients.

  • Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?

    No, not at this time.

  • Where are you located?

    We are three blocks north of Saint Andrew Bay, within what was originally a home at 2407 West 11th Street in Panama City.

  • How often should I go to the dentist?

    For us to best care for your teeth, we should see you every six months.

  • I have a fear of the dentist and dental procedures.

    That’s fine with us! We go out of our way to make patients comfortable, offering nitrous oxide sedation when needed.

  • Do you do cancer screenings?

    Yes, with each regular visit, our doctors will perform a thorough screening for oral cancer. With mouth and throat cancers on the rise over the years, they will also discuss risk factors to avoid, such as smoking and sun exposure.

  • Do you offer sealants?

    Yes, especially in pediatric patients, sealants can help prevent decay. Applied to permanent molars, sealants act as a barrier to prevent food debris and bacteria from accumulating on the tooth surface.

  • Do you do dental implants?

    Yes, Dr. Nieves invested in the specialized equipment to create dental implants.
